Rockets on the Refuges: Public Hearings

Attend a public hearing:

Fairbanks Monday May 2nd: UAF Wood Center 2-4pm

Anchorage Tuesday May 3rd: FWS Regional Office 2-4, 6-8pm

 Consider these points about the program:

• The majority of the rockets land on public lands or Native tribal lands.
• These are large, decommissioned, military missiles, weighing approximately 6 tons and measuring up to 75 feet in length
• About 300 of these rockets have been launched since 1975; few pieces have been recovered
• These rockets could pose a threat to humans recreating or hunting and wildlife inhabiting areas where they land
• NASA may be able use other high-latitude launch sites and/or other technologies to conduct this research
