Meeting
Help Fairbanks Breathe Easier

When:

Jan 21, 2014
11:30am - 12:30pm

Details:

CAUTION: "People with respiratory or heart disease, the elderly and children should avoid prolonged exertion; everyone else should limit prolonged exertion."
The Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation sends health warnings like these to the 100,000 people of Fairbanks and North Pole, where air-quality readings last November were twice as bad as Beijing's. (1)
Now is our chance to help Alaskans breathe easier by cleaning up Fairbanks’s bad air quality.  Now is our chance to protect our health and the safety of our children.  Submit your comment to improve Fairbanks’s air quality by January 23.
We need to improve the wintertime pollution in the golden heart of Alaska.  The science is clear, particulate matter pollution, known as PM-2.5, is linked to problems ranging from asthma to premature death in people with heart or lung disease.  (2)
Unfortunately, the regulations proposed do not go far enough to protect us. Submit your comment today so we can all breathe a little easier.
We can’t afford to wait any longer.
