Getting it Right 25 Years After the Exxon Valdez Oil Spill
It is amazing to think 25 years have passed since the fateful day in Prince William Sound. But even today, the Sound has not fully recovered from what was our country's largest environmental disaster at the time--only to be usurped by the 2010 BP Oil Disaster in the Gulf of Mexico. What lessons have we learned?
Riki Ott, John French, Carl Wasille, Nikos Pastos, Pam Miller, and Rebecca Noblin weave personal stories of the spill with new understandings of oil impacts to wildlife, human health, communities, and culture. The harms highlight failures of national policy to protect people and the environment. Learn what offshore oil, tar sands, and fracking have in common–and opportunities to protect Alaska’s waters and people.
