Matanuska Electric Association 2007 Election Endorsements

The Knik Group Sierra Club is proud to endorse the follow candidates for the Matanuska Electric Association board:

Eagle River/Chugiak: Will Alteneder
Wasilla: Katie Hurley

The current MEA board has fast-tracked a COAL powered electrical plant to be sited in the Mat-Su Valley. This plant would double the CO2 emissions from the natural gas plants that we now get our electricity from. The is no such thing as "clean" coal. When asked what their plan for renewables and conservation is, they had no meaningful answer. We need new leadership to implement truly Smart Energy Solutions.

**Will Alteneder has years of experience with the oil and gas industry, but realizes we must diversify beyond fossil fuels.

**Katie Hurley participated in the writing of our Alaska State Consititution, sat on the MTA board for years and is a well-known for her community service throughout the Valley.

Please encourage your friends and neighbors to vote for positive change on the MEA board.
